Founded by five extraordinary women known as the “Five Pearls”—Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts—the sorority was created to be a progressive organization with a mission rooted in addressing the needs of underserved communities.
