From the Office of the President
Dear Knoxville College Community,
As we move through this exciting season of growth and renewal, I’m pleased to share several important updates and reflections on our continued progress.
First and foremost, I want to express my sincere appreciation to our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners for your unwavering support and commitment to the revitalization of Knoxville College. Together, we are laying a strong foundation for a vibrant and sustainable future.
Over the past few months, we’ve made significant strides in several areas, including campus improvements, strengthening academic programs, and deepening our community outreach. Notable improvements include:
The clean-up of Elnathan Hall
Securing the MLK Towers to prevent unauthorized access and enhance safety
Roof replacement on the McMillan-Reese Chapel and roof repairs on the Annex
Interior repairs to both the Chapel and Annex
A special thank-you goes to the Greater Philadelphia, Delaware, and New Jersey Chapter, Class of 1974, and Dr. Eric Barnes for their generous contributions to the Chapel and Annex repairs.
As we work toward achieving accreditation, we recognize that financial stability is critical to our success. We are actively pursuing new opportunities to strengthen our fiscal foundation through thoughtful stewardship, strategic partnerships, and continued fundraising efforts.
In December, we joyfully celebrated Founders Day on December 16, 2024, a powerful moment of reflection and celebration as we begin commemorating 150 years of Knoxville College’s legacy. This historic milestone will culminate in a vibrant Homecoming Celebration and Founders Day event later this year.
We are proud to launch the President’s Roadshow, a new initiative aimed at engaging and reconnecting with our alumni across the country. These gatherings will allow me to share updates, hear your feedback, and strengthen the lifelong bond between our graduates and their alma mater. I look forward to meeting you and celebrating our shared commitment to Knoxville College.
On Saturday, May 3rd, we will gather in the McMillan-Reese Chapel to honor the achievements of our graduating class during Commencement. This milestone celebrates not only our students’ academic success, but also the strength, resilience, and dedication of the entire Knoxville College family. We are honored to welcome Reverend Harold Middlebrook as our Commencement Speaker and to celebrate our Golden Grads, whose legacies continue to inspire future generations.
Looking ahead, we remain focused on building new partnerships, enhancing our academic offerings, strengthening enrollment, and improving our campus facilities. Sustainability, innovation, and student success will remain at the heart of our mission. With your continued support, we can open doors to endless opportunities and restore Knoxville College to her glory!
Thank you once again for being part of this remarkable journey. I invite you to stay connected, get involved, and continue sharing the story of Knoxville College’s rebirth.
With gratitude,
Dr. Rotesha Harris
President, Knoxville College
